Student Submission

In order to submit your MCGI application you must have 4 artworks prepared. Images of your artwork may be submitted as png, jpg, jpeg, gif, or pdf files. File sizes should not exceed 7MB each, or 30MB total. Please have your submission materials ready before beginning the application. If you close the submission application before pressing "submit" your information will not be saved.

Awards and Scholarships

All submissions will be eligible for a variety of cash prizes (see Cash Prizes, below). If you would also like to apply for workshop or college scholarships, please select them below.

Workshop Scholarships:

Before applying to a workshop scholarship, please ensure you will be available to attend.

Pittsburgh Glass Center Workshop
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Two students will win a free workshop of their choice at Pittsburgh Glass Center valued at up to $550 for freshmen (9th grade) and sophomores (10th grade) and up to $750 for students of all grades and levels.
Touchstone Center for Crafts
  • Eligibility:
    • Available for Teen Week — July 19-24, 2020
    • Age 14-17 at the start of Teen Week — July 19, 2020
  • Description:
    Touchstone Center for Crafts will award four students with a scholarship to attend Teen Week free of charge ($1,200 value). Teen week takes place July 19-24, 2020. More information can be found at touchstonecrafts.org.
Fallingwater Institute
  • Eligibility:
    • Available to attend a week-long residency in Summer 2020. Studio 1 for current 9th-grade students: June 21-26, 2020; Studio 1 for current 10th- and 11th- grade students: July 5-10, 2020; Drawing Intensive: July 12-17, 2020.
    • Entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in Fall 2020
  • Description:
    Fallingwater Institute will award one student with a scholarship to attend a week-long residency ($1,200 value) in Summer 2020. More information can be found at Fallingwater.org/education/fallingwater-institute/.
Steeltown Entertainment Project
  • Eligibility:
    • Must be available to attend a Steeltown Film Academy - June 22-July 30, 2020; Mondays-Thursdays: 10 am-3 pm
  • Description:
    Steeltown Entertainment Project will award one student with a scholarship to attend a workshop ($1,500 value). More information can be found at https://www.steeltown.org/steeltown-film-academy/
Contemporary Craft
  • Eligibility:
    • Must be available to attend a workshop beginning May 2020
  • Description:
    Contemporary Craft will award one student with a scholarship to attend a workshop ($85 value). More information can be found at https://contemporarycraft.org/education/

Bethany College Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Apply and be accepted to Bethany College
    • High school senior (12th grade)
    • Graduate HS with a 2.5+ high school GPA
  • Description:
    Two Bethany College Senior Scholarships: each valued at $3,000 per year for up to 4 years ($12,000 total).
Bethany College Kalon Leaders Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Must be a current or past MCG student
    • Apply and be accepted to Bethany College
    • High school senior (12th grade)
    • Graduate HS with a 2.5+ GPA
    • Complete an in-person interview — We will contact you to coordinate an interview
  • Description:
    Two students will receive a Bethany College Kalon Leaders Scholarship. Each student will receive $20,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $80,000 total) and admission into an on-campus, service-oriented leadership group.
Slippery Rock University Arts Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Apply and be accepted to Slippery Rock University's Art Program
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    Two students will receive $1,500 to attend Slippery Rock University's Art Program.
La Roche University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to La Roche University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One student will receive $2,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $8,000 total) to attend La Roche University.
Duquesne University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Duquesne University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One student will receive $10,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $40,000 total) to attend Duquesne University.
Carlow University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to an art-related program at Carlow University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    One student will receive $3,000 ($3,000 total) to attend Carlow University.
CCAC Educational Foundation Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to CCAC
    • Graduate high school with a 2.75+ GPA
  • Description:
    One student will receive $400 to attend CCAC.
Chatham University Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Chatham University
    • High school senior (12th grade)
    • Graduate high school with a 3.0+ GPA
    • Pittsburgh Public School student
  • Description:
    One student will receive $1,000 per year for up to 4 years or 120 credits (up to $4,000 total) to attend Chatham University.
Westminster College Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • Applied to Westminster College
    • High school senior (12th grade)
    • Graduate high school with a 3.0 GPA
  • Description:
    Multiple students will receive $1,000 per year for up to 4 years (up to $4,000 total) to attend Westminster College.
Eleanor Friedberg Scholarship
  • Eligibility:
    • High school junior (11th grade) and senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    Multiple students will receive up to $10,000 to attend the school of their choice.

Cash Prizes:

All students will be entered automatically to win cash prizes. To win prizes with specific eligibility requirements (for example, ceramics) you must submit work that meets those requirements.

Associated Artists of Pittsburgh
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Celebrating 109 years in existence, Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will award one student a $109 cash prize.
Academy of Science and Art
  • Eligibility:
    • Photography
  • Description:
    Academy of Science and Art will award five students with $200 each.
The Andy Warhol Museum
  • Eligibility:
    • High school junior (11th grade) or senior (12th grade)
  • Description:
    The Andy Warhol Museum will award a $500 cash prize to one high school junior or senior.
Standard Ceramic Supply
  • Eligibility:
    • Ceramics
  • Description:
    Standard Ceramic Supply will award a $250 cash prize to one student.
Dorothy Raizman
  • Eligibility:
    • Any
  • Description:
    Dorothy Raizman will award a $500 cash prize to four students.
Huffman Ceramics Award
  • Eligibility:
    • Ceramics
    • Attend a PPS school other than CAPA
  • Description:
    The Huffman Family will award three students with $50+ cash prizes.
